Obituary of Joseph A. Folmer

Dr. Joseph A. Folmer, D.D.S, 98 ½, departed his life at home on Thursday, February 8, 2018 Born in Trenton, NJ, Joseph was a longtime resident of Lawrenceville and practiced dentistry in Trenton for 47 years. He graduated from St. Joseph’s College in Philadelphia, PA and Georgetown University Dental School in Washington, D.C. He interned in Oral Surgery at The City Hospital of New York on Welfare Island, NY. He held lifelong memberships in the American, New Jersey and Mercer County Dental Associations. He served in the 82nd Airborne 307 Medical Battalion as a Captain during the Korean Campaign from 1952-1954. He was a Fourth-Degree life member of the Knights of Columbus and was a longtime member of The Church of St. Ann in Lawrenceville serving in the Ministry as an usher. He enjoyed snow skiing, golfing, fishing and boating. His daughters admired his love of life, courage and kindness. Son of the late Jacob and Josephine Folmer, niece Michelle Nugent and his nephew Edward Folmer brother of the late Dr. Edward Folmer, husband of the late Helen Folmer, father-in-law of the late William Coleman; he is survived by his daughters and sons-in-law Carol Coleman, Marilyn and Ray Giglio and Jane and John Kelleher; his grandson William Coleman and his wife Irene; his sister Marie Nugent; his sister-in-law Marie Folmer; his niece Virginia and many nephews Rick Peters, Richard Folmer and Anthony Nugent. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday, February 16, 2018 at 10:00AM at The Church of St. Ann 1253 Lawrence Road, Lawrenceville, NJ 08648. Interment will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Hamilton. Relatives and friends can call on Thursday, February 15, 2018 from 6-8PM and again on Friday morning from 8:30-9:30AM at Poulson & Van Hise Funeral Directors, 650 Lawrence road, Lawrenceville, NJ 08648. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made in Joseph’s memory to The Church of St. Ann 1253 Lawrence Road, Lawrenceville, NJ 08648
