Christopher J. Colavita, 49, of Lambertville, died at his home on Saturday surrounded by his loving family. Born in Trenton, and a former resident of Lawrenceville, he had resided in Lambertville for the past nine years. Chris graduated from Lawrence High School in 1981. He was an all-state soccer player and was a co-captain on the State Champion 1980 team. He attended North Carolina University - Chapel Hill, graduating in 1985 and earning a bachelors degree in communications. He also co-captained the Tar Heel soccer team his senior year. Chris worked for NJ Manufacturers Insurance for over 25 years and held a number of senior positions. He was elected to the Board of Directors in 2008 and his most recent promotion was to Senior Vice President in 2009. Chris is survived by his loving wife Mika Ellis Colavita, his two beloved daughters; Madeline and Natalie, his mother, Shelia Drugan Colavita, his father, Leon Colavita and his wife Betty, his mother and father-in-law, Morgan and Viola Ellis, his brother, Keith Colavita, his sister, Katy Livi, and his brother-in-law, Glenn Ellis and his wife Lisa. Also surviving are his aunts: Maureen Drugan, Kathleen Ryan, and Kathleen Woolston and his nieces and nephews: Grayson Ellis, Holden and Bryce Livi, and Caroline and Jack Colavita. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday at 12 noon at The Church of St. Ann, 1253 Lawrenceville Road, Lawrenceville with Mgsr. Vincent Gartland, officiating. Burail will be in the Mt. Hope Cemetery in Lambertville. Friends may call on Thursday from 9 am until the start of Mass at the church. In lieu of flowers memorial donations in Chris’ name are requested be made to the Hunterdon Hospice, 2100 Wescott Drive, Flemington, NJ 08822.
