Russell J. Salt, 91, of Lawrenceville passed away on Thursday at Capital Health Medical Center, Hopewell. Born in Lawrenceville, NJ, Russell was a lifelong resident of Lawrence Township. He was a Veteran of WWII, having proudly served his country with the US Navy. Russell was employed for 20 years with American Standard, the Lawrence Twp. Board of Education for 20 years as a bus driver, maintenance man, retiring from Lawrence High School as the Head Custodian. He was a lifelong member of the American Legion Post# 414 and was a loving father, grandfather, uncle and friend. Son of the late George H. and Elizabeth Salt, brother of the late John M. Salt, father-in-law of the late Edward Anthony and Edward Doyne, father of the late Nancy Doyne, husband of the late Irene C. Salt; he is survived by his daughter Irene E. Salt; two grandsons Michael and Matthew Doyne; his sister Alma Victor; many nieces, nephews and close friends. Funeral services will be held at 11AM on Wednesday, April 27, 2016 at Poulson and Van Hise Funeral Directors, 650 Lawrence Road, Lawrenceville, NJ 08648. Interment with military honors will follow at Brigadier General Wm C. Doyle Veterans Cemetery, N. Hanover Twp., NJ. Relatives and friends can gather on Tuesday evening from 6-8PM at the funeral home. Due to floral restrictions with the cemetery, the family requests donations be made to the charity of the donor’s choice.
