Joseph M. Dlabik, Sr. 67, of Lawrenceville died peacefully on Thursday at Capital Health Regional Medical Center surrounded by his loving family. Born in Trenton, Joe was a lifelong resident of Lawrenceville. He was the former co-owner of Dlabik’s Amoco Gas Station in Clarksville, was a former bus driver with the Lawrence Township Board of Education and retired from the Lawrenceville School in 2011 as Chief Engineer of the heating plant after 31 years of service. Joe was a dedicated firefighter with the Lawrence Road Fire Company, Station 22, since 1998. He was also a Life Member and Past Assistant Chief of the Lawrenceville Fire Company, Station 23, and Life Member and Past Secretary of the NJ State Fireman’s Association. Son of the late Edward M. and Justine Antonish Dlabik; brother of the late, Edward M. Dlabik Jr. and Veronica Dlabik; son-in-law of the late Joseph Huber, Sr. and Uncle of the late Ronnie and Edward Dlabik, III; Joe is survived by his wife Linda Huber Dlabik; his four sons, Joseph “Booda” Dlabik, Jr; Christopher and girlfriend Melissa Paterson, Shaun and fiancé Rachael Palopoli, Ryan and his wife Carlyn and precious granddaughter Grace. Also surviving are his mother-in-law, Vivian Huber, brothers-in-law, Joseph Huber Jr and his wife Sharon, Donald Huber, Dennis Huber and his wife Gay, his sisters-in-law, BettyLou Dlabik and Sharon McClellan and her husband Michael and several nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews. Funeral services for Joe will be held on Tuesday at 11:00 AM at Poulson & Van Hise Funeral Directors, 650 Lawrence Road, Lawrenceville with the Rev. Jeffrey A. Vamos, Pastor of The Presbyterian Church of Lawrenceville officiating. Burial will follow in the Lawrenceville Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Monday from 4 to 8 PM at the funeral home. Lawrence Township Fire Companies will conduct services at 7 PM. Memorial contributions may be made to the Grace Dlabik College Fund, Payable to CollegeAmerica, Attn: Michael Loginow, 2500 York Rd., Suite 200, Jamison, PA 18929 please include in the memo Grace Dlabik.
