Elizabeth "Betty" Leedom Obituary
Elizabeth “Betty” Leedom, 89, of Lawrenceville, passed away peacefully on Monday, April 27, 2026, at The Terraces in Lawrenceville, NJ.
Born in Princeton, Betty was a longtime resident of Lawrenceville. She was a retiree of the Lawrence Township Recreation Department, where she served as an administrator for many years. Betty was a devoted parishioner of The Church of St. Ann and an active member of numerous community organizations, including the Girl Scouts, Deborah Heart and Lung Hospital, the Lawrence Township Arts Council, the Lawrence Township PTO, and the Lawrence High School Band Parents Association.
Betty was involved in nearly every Lawrence Township event and was a true pillar of the community. She was instrumental in starting girls’ softball in Lawrence Township, and in recognition of her dedication, Betty Leedom Field at Village Park was named in her honor. In 2022, Betty was inducted into the Lawrence Township Hall of Fame. Above all, Betty was a loving and devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend who will be dearly missed.
Daughter of the late Charlie and Fannie Raccioppi; wife of the late Richard Allen Leedom; and sister of the late Gerald Raccioppi, she is survived by her children Richard and Gail Leedom, David and Sue Leedom, and Deirdre and John Scurti; her grandchildren Mark (Tara) Leedom, Kyle (Autumn) Leedom, Gina (Mike) Gramlich, John (Jeana) Scurti, Salvatore (Ally) Scurti, Nathan (Michelle) Dierkes, Maryellen Dierkes, and Becky (Chris) Dierkes; and her great-grandchildren JT, Jameson, Christopher, Scarlett, Vivian, Zack, Nicholas, Paislee, Madison, and Mia.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, May 5, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at The Church of St. Ann, 1253 Lawrence Road, Lawrenceville, NJ 08648.
Visitation will be held Tuesday morning from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. at the church.
Inurnment will be held privately at the convenience of the family.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Betty’s memory to Deborah Heart and Lung Hospital, 200 Trenton Road, Browns Mills, NJ 08015, or to the charity of the donor’s choice.
