Obituary of Kenneth E. Larson
Kenneth Edward Larson, 98, of Pennington, New Jersey, passed away on Monday, July 14, 2025 after a brief illness.
Born in Minneapolis, Minnesota, he was a resident of Bucks County, Pennsylvania for many years, before moving to Pennington.
In his early years, he was an avid Ham radio operator, which led to a job programming a major defense system for the Air Force in the early 1950’s, and ultimately, to his career with Western Electric/AT&T as a director of a team of engineers and mathematicians specializing in Process Control Systems. After retirement, he wrote a custom program to manage condo associations. First he taught himself several programming languages and spent hours in his office….”working”.
He enjoyed carpentry and woodworking, which resulted in an addition to his home and several pieces of furniture. His longtime passion was golf and rooting for the Vikings and Twins even when they weren't at the top of their game. He was the family photographer, including the annual Christmas picture and pictures of his grandchildren’s activities.
His favorite board game was Go, which he taught to his children, grandchildren, and was preparing to introduce his great-grandchildren.
In his wife Margaret’s final years, he was her primary care giver and was at her side until the end.
After the passing of his wife, Margaret, he developed an interest in walking. Initially, he walked less than a few hundred yards. Through his dedication, he worked up to a 5K walk with his entire family, which was held virtually throughout the country during Covid. Up to the days before his passing, he was seen each morning at sunrise heading out for his mile walk up at the “soccer fields.”
Son of the late Gustave Larson and Ebba Magnuson, Kenneth is preceded in death by his wife, Margaret(2018), granddaughter Kristine(2019), granddaughter Jennifer(2022) and his older sister Bernice. He is survived by his four children and their spouses, Barbara Pettoni, Kenneth and Katherine Manizza Larson, Kathleen and Len Matuza, and James and Susan Larson, 9 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. He is also survived by a younger sister Marian residing in Minnesota.
