When I was a new teacher at Slackwood School way back in 1984, Kathy was assigned to me as my part-time aide. We got on like cookies and cream. She encouraged me, even when I felt like I didn't know what I was doing. She could find humor in every situation, and we laughed often! Kathy helped me through that first tough year (I wanted to quit by October) and made all the following ones we worked on together joyful and warm. I'm still here at Slackwood and drive down her street every morning on my way to school. I had guessed she had moved once the teddy bears were gone from her front porch. Rest easy, Kathy. You touched many, many little lives, including my own.
