Obituary of Doretta M. Gallucci

Doretta "Deta" M. Gallucci, 67, a long-time resident of Lawrenceville, N.J. passed away peacefully at the Samaritan Hospice Center in Mount Holly, N.J. on June 6, 2025, following a hard-fought battle and illness.

 

She was born on December 25, 1957 in Fountain Hill, Pa., the daughter of the late Angelo A. and Virginia E. (Antonelli) Gallucci of Allentown, Pa.

 

She was a proud graduate of Kutztown University in Kutztown, Pa., class of 1979, with a degree in Art Education. Her artistic eye, attention to detail, and creative drive led her to professional success at numerous companies and organizations including: AT&T, Rodale Press, Reebok International, The Walters Art Museum, The Arts Council of Princeton, and HomeFront.

 

Throughout her life, Doretta expressed a true talent and passion for art and all things creative. A painter and sketch artist, she leaves behind a collection of beautiful and poignant artwork, numerous gifted knitted hats, scarves, blankets, and beloved toys. She was a wonderfully gifted and creative cook, whether it was making something simple for Bob and Jack, or hosting an amazing dinner party or holiday meal for family and friends. She loved gardening, planning out family vacations, reading about British history, and all things Bruce Springsteen.

 

Doretta is survived by her loving and devoted husband of 32 years, Robert Perkins, and their son, Jackson, both of Lawrenceville, N.J.; sister, Lenore (Wayne) Foster of Port Matilda., Pa.; brother, James (Bryan) Gallucci of Allentown, Pa.; nephew, Evan Foster of Port Matilda, Pa.; niece, Cristen (Jason) Gilbert and grand-niece, Caroline, all of Cleveland, Ohio; along with

loving in-laws, nieces, nephews, and a host of long-time friends and colleagues.

 

She was a former board member of Lawrenceville Main Street, the LMS Landscape Design Committee, and the creator of the 2021 "Windows of Hope" community art event. She worked tirelessly to support the independent businesses, natural beauty, and the community-at-large of her beloved neighborhood.

 

We invite you to join us in celebrating the life of a cherished wife, mother, sister and friend. A memorial service will be held at the Princeton Italian-American Sportsmen's Club, 8 Founders Lane, Princeton, NJ on Saturday August 2, 2025 from 1-4pm. Invitations will be going out the week of June 29th. 

 

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Doretta's name, can be made to the following organizations: HomeFront NJ , Younity (Womanspace), SAVE Rescue Coalition, and

Samaritan Healthcare & Hospice.
