Please share a memory of Nancy to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Jane Thompson, 91, formerly of Lawrenceville, NJ, passed away at Pennswood Village in Newtown, PA on May 30, 2025.

Nancy Jane Reimann Thompson was born June 28, 1933, to Edward C. and Nannie W. (Shaw) Reimann in Chattanooga, TN during the Great Depression.  Edward took a job in the family bank in Hull, IA where Jane grew up. Jane graduated from the University of Iowa, with a BS in Biology.  At the University of Iowa, Jane met Raymond Thompson in a chemistry lab.  Jane and Ray got married and moved to Cambridge, MA, where Ray graduated from Harvard University.  When Ray got a job at Educational Testing Service, Jane and Ray moved to Lawrenceville, NJ where they raised three children and spent the rest of their adult lives.

Jane had an extensive record as a volunteer beginning with Cub Scouts and Girl Scouts as well as serving as President of the PTA.  She volunteered in a local soup kitchen, and with Meals on Wheels. Jane was elected to the Lawrence Township Board of Education, where she served for 12 years.  Jane worked on Lawrence Township Committees including historical, environmental, and cultural heritage.  She was on the Zoning Board of Adjustment for 20 years, serving as the chair for 10, as well participating on the Charter Study Committee.  Jane and Ray were active members of the Lawrence Road Presbyterian Church.

Jane’s love for traveling developed as a child.  Each summer she would travel to Tennessee with her sister Anne and their mother to visit her grandmother for a month.  Jane took her children to most of the US States, traveling to IA from NJ every summer and to Miami, FL most Christmases.  Jane and Ray visited every continent several times, except Antarctica.  Jane took all her children and grandchildren on several Caribbean cruises.  Jane and Anne traveled together on many Elderhostel trips in later years.

Left to cherish Jane’s memory are her three children Rodney (Suzie) Thompson of Charlotte, NC, Lydia Solomon of St. Davids, PA, and Nathan Thompson of Tinton Falls, NJ; eight grandchildren: Russell (Laura) Thompson, Delia Solomon , Jenny (Kendall) Gebhardt , Natalie Solomon (Stephen Murphy), Morgan Thompson , Elise Thompson, Claire Solomon , and Zach Thompson; and four great grandchildren: Rowan Thompson, Emma Gebhardt, Skylar Murphy, and Marsali Thompson, along with many other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband Ray and her sister Anne.
