Obituary of Mary G. Romanchuk
Mary G. Romanchuk, 95, passed away on Wednesday, April 9, 2025 at the Meadows of Lawrence in Lawrenceville, surrounded by her loving family.
Mary was born in Trenton, New Jersey and spent her childhood there and in Niagara Falls, New York. After her marriage in 1952, to Alexander Romanchuk, Mary lived in Trenton, Ewing and Lawrence. Mary worked at Bayer in Hamilton and then at Pittman Moore in Hopewell, where she served as a supervisor until her retirement.
Predeceased by her parents, Samuel Ricco and Carmella (Bonfanti), her infant son, Samuel Romanchuk, her sister, Josephine Ricco, her brother Felix Richard Ricco and her loving husband of 71 years, Alexander Romanchuk. She is survived by her son Michael Romanchuk and his wife Anne Marie, her daughter Joan Van Wagner and her husband Mark, her son James Romanchuk and his wife Doreen. Her brothers John (Ellen) Ricco and Joe (Lucy) Ricco. Her grandchildren, Jennifer Roslowski and her husband Joshua, Nicholas Van Wagner and his wife Laura, Chelsea Romanchuk and Carli Romanchuk, great-grandchildren Aidan and Ashley Van Wagner.
Mary was a devoted and loving wife, mother and grandmom. She lived a full and happy life, which included, hiking, traveling and enjoying the beauty of nature. She had a passion for bird watching and loved hiking, especially along the Appalachian Trail. She had visited many wildlife sanctuaries, state and national parks, in pursuit of her passions. Sitting on rocks, on chilly fall days, binoculars in hand and bird book close at hand, was a pleasure she enjoyed, and she shared that pleasure and passed along her appreciation of the beauty of nature to her children and grandkids. Thanks to Mary’s influence and guiding hand, her grandchildren inherited her love for cooking and gardening. Even Mary’s great grandkids know where to go grab the bird book to help them identify a bird that they saw but didn’t recognize. Mary instilled that gift for the love of nature to her family. Mary had been able to hike along many sections of the Appalachian Trail, including one physically demanding hike up to the summit of Mt. Katahdin in Maine, with its awe-inspiring vistas. She especially enjoyed vacations along coastal Maine. Mary deeply enjoyed being surrounded by her family, and cherished the time she got to spend with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Mary leaves behind nearly a century of cherished memories, not only with the family members mentioned above, but also with a large group of extended family members and many friends.
The Romanchuk family wishes to extend their gratitude and appreciation to the entire staff of The Meadows of Lawrence for their extraordinary kindness and caring during the time Mary resided there. They were a source and great comfort and support for Mary and the family.
