

Obituary of Thomas M. Castagna
Thomas M. Castagna, 83, beloved husband, father, grandfather, cousin, and friend, of Lawrenceville and Sea Isle City NJ, passed away on Saturday, March 22, 2025 at Cadia Silverside, Wilmington, DE.
Born in Philadelphia, PA, Tom was a resident of Lawrenceville for 53 years. He proudly served his country with the US Marine Corps. Thomas graduated from West Catholic Boy's High School (Philadelphia) in 1959, from Villanova University (PA) with a BA in Business Administration in 1963 and from Columbia University (NYC) with an MBA in 1965. Tom married Joan Flynn on May 10, 1969. They shared 49 happily married years together, having great adventures and raising their family until her passing in 2015. He is a retiree of Exxon Mobil (NYC), where he was employed in Finance his entire career.
Tom was a member of the Knights of Columbus Lawrence Council 7000 (Past Treasurer), St. Vincent DePaul Society (Past Treasurer), Ancient Order of Hibernians Msgr, Crean Div #1, previous Board Member of Lawrence Community Center, member of Exxon Mobil 25 Year Club, active member of both West Catholic Burrs Alumnae and St. Francis de Sales Elementary Alumnae, and a member of Sea Isle City Commodore Club. He was also a long-time lector at the Church of St. Ann.
Tom was always ready with a smile and his sense of humor. He loved spending time with family and friends, traveling the world, enjoying the NJ shore, dining and raising his glass to the good life. Tom was a devout Catholic and practiced charitable works through his involvement with the St Vincent DePaul Society, the Lawrence Neighborhood Center, and the Knights of Columbus. He was intelligent, honorable, respectful and fun to be around.
Son of the late Emilio and Dorothy, husband of the late Joan Flynn Castagna; he is survived by two daughters Kathleen & son-in-law Jay Breslin, and Christine Murray and son-in-law Patrick Murray. Grandchildren: J.J. Breslin, Thomas Breslin, Catherine Murray and Erin Murray; his loving companion of 9 years Evelyn Federico, many cousins and lifelong friends.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, April 1, 2025 at 11:00AM at The Church of St. Ann, 1253 Lawrence Road, Lawrenceville, NJ 08648.
Interment will be held in Lawrenceville Cemetery, Rt. 206 Lawrence Twp., NJ.
The visitation for relatives and friends will be held on Tuesday morning from 9:00AM-11:00AM at The Church of St. Ann.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the St Vincent DePaul Society (send to St. Vincent DePaul Society C/O James Oliver, 7 Valley View Road Trenton, NJ 08620) or West Catholic Preparatory High School (Give Now - West Catholic High School).
