

Obituary of Leona D. Lauchaire
Leona D. Lauchaire (nee Cavanagh), 79, of Lawrenceville, passed away peacefully on Friday, March 21, 2025 at Serenity Hospice, Hamilton, NJ with her daughters at her side.
Born in Jersey City, NJ, she was a resident of Hasbrouck Heights for 35 years where she raised her family. She resided in Ocean Twp for 13 years, before moving to Lawrenceville 3 years ago. Leona attended Holy Name Nursing School in Teaneck, NJ. She worked as a Labor and Delivery nurse at Holy Name Hospital and later at Englewood Hospital. She was a parishioner at Sacred Heart Church in Trenton and formerly a parishioner of Corpus Christi Church in Hasbrouck Heights.
One of Lee’s greatest joys was ushering in countless newborns and sharing such a special moment with the families. Lee loved traveling with her family and was proud to have visited most of the United States. An animal lover, Lee enjoyed spending time with her dogs and rescued numerous cats over the years. Lee’s proudest and most memorable moments were attained through time spent with her beloved husband, devoted daughters, and cherished grandchildren. Lee was an integral part of her grandchildren's lives and a piece of her will live in each of them forever.
Daughter of the late Adam and Leona Cavanagh, wife of the late Stephen Lauchaire; she is survived by two daughters and their spouses, Sharon Lauchaire Miller and husband Rick Miller of Lawrenceville, NJ and Suzanne Lauchaire Lubomski and husband Stephen Lubomski of Maplewood, NJ; and her beloved grandchildren Charlotte, Gavin, Nolan, Abby, and Landon.
The visitation for Leona will be held on Tuesday, March 25, 2025, from 2-4 p.m. & 6-8 p.m. at Poulson & Van Hise Funeral Directors, 650 Lawrence Road, Lawrenceville, NJ 08648
The funeral will begin on Wednesday, March 26 at 9 a.m. at the funeral home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m at Sacred Heart Church, 343 South Broad Street, Trenton, NJ 08608.
Interment will be held in Ewing Church Cemetery, Ewing Twp., NJ.
The family requests memorial donations be made in Leona’s memory to Forebatten Foundation to fund medical research for Juvenile Batten disease, a rare and fatal neurological disease affecting Lee's extended family through Forebatten.org.
