Obituary of Sylvia C. Herendeen
Sylvia Herendeen, age 93, of Yardley, PA, passed away peacefully on February 12, 2025, after living a full life. She is survived by her son Todd Herendeen, Yardley, PA, a brother, Ronald Sciandra (Patricia), niece and nephew, cousin Valerie Ferrara Ryan (Thomas), and the many friends she made over the years.
Raised in the Chambersburg section of Trenton, New Jersey, by her mother, the late Ida Clarke, Sylvia grew up to be a determined, confident, self-reliant, spunky woman, allowing her to effectively manage some heavy challenges life threw her way. She will be remembered as a fiercely loyal daughter to Ida and mother to Todd.
Sylvia was the quintessential self-made businesswoman who achieved financial independence through her real estate investments and thirty-five years as the well-respected head bookkeeper at the Princeton, NJ law firm Pellettieri, Rabstein & Altman.
In her spare time, Sylvia enjoyed her little beach “hacienda” at the southern tip of Long Beach Island, which was in close proximity to her favorite pastime, gambling in Atlantic City. To hear Sylvia tell it, she was perpetually a winner! Sylvia enjoyed traveling, was always ready for a good time, and in her younger days, loved to paint the town red. She was a very proud woman who single handedly created a very comfortable life for herself and her son. Only the passage of time could slow Sylvia down. She most definitely is, and will always be, a very memorable figure to all those who knew her.
A service will be held in honor of Sylvia’s life on Friday, February 21, 2025, at 11 A.M. at the Greenwood Cemetery Mausoleum, 1800 Hamilton Ave., Trenton, NJ. Family and close friends are welcome.
