Obituary of Henry R. Van Slooten

Henry R. Van Slooten, 78, of Newtown, PA passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 21, 2021. Born November 26, 1942 to Henry and Edythe. Henry was raised in Bergen County. A longtime resident of Glen Rock, NJ, Henry later moved to Lawrenceville, NJ. He graduated from Mount St. Mary’s College; before serving in the U.S. Navy and earning his masters degree from William Paterson College. Henry was married in 1969 at Saint Catherine's to his wife Barbara Lane Van Slooten, who both attended high school at Saint Luke’s in Hohokus. Henry was employed with New Jersey Manufacturers as Assistant Vice President, retiring after 38 years of dedicated service. Henry was a member of St. Andrew’s Church in Newtown, PA. He enjoyed playing basketball, riding his bike, and vacationing with his family in upstate New York. Son of the late Henry and Edythe Van Slooten; he is survived by his wife of 52 years, Barbara Lane Van Slooten, his children Amy Yacyk and her husband Ron, Michael Van Slooten, Gerard Van Slooten, and Mary Kathryn Van Slooten; his brothers Dr. Ronald H. and his wife Barbara Van Slooten, Arthur Van Slooten and Dr. David Van Slooten and his wife Lauren Malone as well as his sister-in-law Kathryn Baum; his granddaughter, Kayleen Yacyk as well as many nieces and nephews. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, August 25, 2021 at 1:00PM at St. Andrew Catholic Church, 81 Swamp Rd., Newtown, PA 18940. Interment will be held privately and at the convenience of the family. The viewing for Henry will be held on Wednesday morning from 9:00AM to 12:00 Noon at Poulson & Van Hise Funeral Directors, 650 Lawrence Road, Lawrenceville, NJ 08648.
