Margaret (Peggy) E. Burns, 81, of Warren, NJ, passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 6, 2021 at her daughter’s home in Lawrenceville, surrounded by her family. Born in Elizabeth, NJ she was a longtime resident of Warren. Peggy is a retiree of Colgate Palmolive, where she was employed as an executive assistant. She spent her time admiring the birds, her garden, sunsets, and walking on the beach. Peggy enjoyed traveling to her favorite places; Bermuda and Hilton Head with her beloved husband, Gene. She was a warm, kind-hearted, generous soul who loved her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren very much. Predeceased by her parents Stephen T. and Margaret R. Eckbold; her husband Eugene Burns; she is survived by her children Richard James Burns, Laura Jean Allebach, Kathleen A. and her husband Terence P. Bannon, and Suzanne Burns; her grandchildren Kristin E. Hauck, Brittany L. Anderson, Kelly A. and Alison T. Bannon, William G. Kluckas, Donald J., Amber J. and Alyssa H. Allebach, her great-grandchildren Cooper E. and Colin J. Hauck; her sister-in-law Josie Burns; one niece and two nephews Jodie Burns, James Jr. and Jason Burns. Her friends and family will remember her as the greatest survivor they ever knew. After fighting breast cancer for over 30 years and beating it three times, she was faced with another cancer (pancreatic) that ultimately took her life. Peggy taught others to never give up. She is our idol and our hero.
