Biography

Carolyn J. Hills, 77, of Skillman died on Friday after a long battle with cancer.
 
Born in Manhattan, Carolyn was a former resident of Princeton, Lawrenceville, and Pennington, NJ.  A graduate of Fisk University, she earned her masters degree in counseling and guidance from Rider College.  She taught, and then became Director of, the University League Nursery School in Princeton, and later became a Guidance Counselor in South Brunswick and Lawrence High Schools.  She also obtained her real Estate license and became an antiques dealer at The Tomato Factory in Hopewell.
 
Carolyn was a past president of the Lawrence League of Women Voters and was a board member of the Village Charter School in Trenton.  She was an avid bridge player and she traveled extensively, exploring Russia, Spain, Italy and Ireland.  She enjoyed participating in the Lawrence Garden Gate Club, watercolor painting, doll club, and the Pennington Library Book Club. 
 
Daughter of the late Fred and Maude Green Johnson, and wife of the late William Avery Hills, she is survived by her two sons; Bill Hills and his wife, Carol, of Hopewell, NJ; Kenneth Hills of Sterling, VA; her daughter, Cheryl Hills of Pasadena, MD; her grandchildren, Danielle and David Hills; and also many devoted friends.
 
 A memorial service will be held on Sunday, August 15, 2010 at 3 PM at the Unitarian Universalist Church at Washington Crossing, 268 Washington Crossing-Pennington Road, Titusville, NJ  08560.
